The Olympic basketball tournament separates from the legends of Pau Gasol and Luis Scola, who came off the stage for the last time at the age of 41 with the relegation of Spain and Argentina, and tomorrow (Thursday) will reach the moment of truth with two semi-finals: 7:15 p.m. Slovenia and France will compete.

Luca Doncic, naturally, concentrates the most attention in Tokyo.

In the last two games he has cleared his team's leading slingshot slot to Volatko Chanchar and Zoran Dragic, but flirted with victories over Spain and Germany with a triple double;

Alongside first place in the King of Baskets table (26.3 points), the Slovenian superstar screwed up in second place in rebounds (10.0) and also in assists (8.0).

Beyond the desire to take the Slovenes to the final and secure a medal win as early as tomorrow, the number 77 has a personal interest, and he is about to smash some glass ceilings that have already raised dust.

* If he maintains the current average, Doncic will put the highest number of points per player at the Olympics in the last 25 years. The last to score more than his 26.3 was Oscar Schmidt in Atlanta 1996, with 27.4. The Brazilian, by the way, holds the all-time record, which is unlikely to ever break: 42.4 points per game in Seoul 1988.

* Assuming he stays at the top of the points scorers, Doncic will become at 22 the youngest king of baskets in the Olympics in 53 years. The only ones who did it before him: Davis Peralta from Panama (20 years old in 1968), Yugoslav Radiboy Korach (21 years old in 1960) and Oscar Molia from Uruguay (21 years old in 1956).

* In 17 of the 18 previous cases, the kingdom of the baskets came at the expense of group achievements.

In fact, Pau Gasol was the only top scorer to win an Olympic medal, scoring 19.6 points en route to Spain's money in Beijing 2008. He too, therefore, did not lead his team to first place on the podium.
