At the Peißenberg cemetery, so-called tree burials are to be made possible in the area of the urn circles and urn walls as well as on the adjoining flower meadow.

The market council decided unanimously at the request of the SPD parliamentary group.

Peißenberg - The funeral culture is changing - also in Peißenberg. Many graves in the St. Johann cemetery are empty or are only occupied for a limited time. The trend is towards maintenance-free forms of burial - and this also includes tree burials. The ashes of the deceased are buried in a biodegradable urn directly on the tree roots. The trees are usually in a demarcated "cemetery". Something like that should now also exist in the Peißenberg cemetery.

The SPD parliamentary group had formulated a corresponding proposal and discussed and adjusted the content with the town hall administration in the run-up to the June meeting in the market council: “These were really very constructive discussions,” said SPD councilor Peter Blome, praising the cooperation in the plenary session. The result of the consultations: In the area of the urn wall and the urn circles, the existing trees are to be used for tree burials. The planting of another tree is planned on the flower meadow. But that's not all: The developed concept initially also provided for the cemetery bridle to be moved 20 meters to the east to the previously reserved cemetery expansion area in Spitz between Weilheimerstrasse and Holzerstrasse. There, so the ideaMore trees could be planted for a "cemetery" and a park-like area could be created for pause and contemplation.

The SPD proposal was received with goodwill in the local council. “That's a really great idea,” said Annette Daiber from Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. What would still be missing are burial offers for Muslim fellow citizens. Walter Wurzinger also approved of the "Friedwald" application - albeit with one caveat. The local council of the Free Voters asked about the cemetery expansion area. This is no longer necessary due to the decreasing demand for classic burials. That is precisely why the municipal council decided in the last electoral term to keep the area available as an exchange area as part of the reallocation process for the planned industrial park east. “We mustn't forget our old resolutions,” warned Wurzinger. First of all, it must be determinedwhether the use of a 20 meter wide green strip could have an impact on the reallocation process. Even the area for the construction of the building yard warehouse was only given over "grudgingly".

Manuela Vanni (Peißenberger list) confirmed that the cemetery expansion area had basically been given up. "As far as I can remember, the settlement of smaller businesses was under discussion," explained the former mayor. She found the SPD proposal “not bad”, but: “Will it really be a 'cemetery' as one imagines it?” Peter Blome gave the answer: At first they thought about a real forest area. That is "wildly romantic, but unfortunately not practical". The reason: For older relatives, visiting the resting places over rough terrain would be difficult or even impossible. Ultimately, the SPD proposal was unanimously approved, but without taking into account the 20-meter-wide additional strip. As requested by Wurzinger with regard to the reallocation procedure,First of all, the possible effects of using it as a "cemetery" should be examined.
