Olavarría and Ricardo Gutiérrez, a corner of the
Crucecita
neighborhood
, in the Avellaneda district, is an unthinkable danger for motorists.
It is the crossroads between a narrow street and a slightly wider one, with parking allowed and through which the
buses of lines 10 and 134
pass -and stop
.
On Gutiérrez there
are
also
two donkey loins almost together,
one located on the edge of the corner (at 1400 high from the street) and the other in front of the Bartolomé Miter Library front, located at 1372: between them there are no more than 30 meters.
A priori, it seems to be an unsuspected risky place, where beyond the recklessness that drivers may commit, it is difficult for serious accidents to occur.

The truth is that there are crashes, and many.
Video images collected by the residents of the area show five different situations of collisions between vehicles always with the same scenery of the corner of Gutiérrez and Olavarría.
They occurred in a span of a few months and they were not the only ones;
they say that there were several more of those who have no record in images.
Neighbors ask, to begin with, maximum speed signs, although they insist that final tranquility could only come if a traffic light is installed.
Municipal authorities recognize the problem
and say they are analyzing a solution.
Meanwhile, at any moment a new crash can occur.
“It's a bumper car track.
There is no driver education, it is clear.
And there is no one to fine either, that's the truth, "says Emilia Sánchez, a neighbor who lives above Gutiérrez.
Two cars crashed and ended up on the sidewalk.

Near his house, in one of the ochavas, the naked eye can see marks left by cars that hit the wall.
"This?
This is nothing to write home about, one more shock, "says Emilia.
The video only confirms what we see very often.
Sometimes they collide, other times they are saved by scraping and if nothing happens it is by chance.
Nobody stops.
You have to put an urgent traffic light ”.
Jorge Estévez, another neighbor, points out that
the main problem is those who circulate through Ricardo Gutiérrez
, since the priority on that corner would be those arriving from the right, from Olavarría.
"They don't give way, it's always the same story," he remarks.
And he insists: "The only thing that can force them to stop is a traffic light."
The
compilation
of videos starts with a crash on December 23, 2020 just after 6.30 in the morning: a van moves through Olavarría and runs into a group 10 that arrives before the crossing.
The utility vehicle never slows down before impact.
The images follow one another: February 2 at 6:37 p.m., a taxi and a private car;
March 30 at 6:55 p.m., a car and a truck;
May 5 at 5:55 p.m., two cars colliding and ending up on the sidewalk despite being on a corner at that time unusually deserted;
May 7 at 5:48 p.m., utility and private vehicle.
They are just examples, explain the neighbors.

Darío, who lives ten blocks away, gives a diagnosis: "Gutiérrez is a busy street, more or less wide,
people often mistake it for an avenue
and cars go by very fast."
“There were no injuries at the moment, at least seriously.
But it is a matter of luck, it can happen any day.
Here there are two crashes per month, quietly ”, he calculates.
In the Municipality of Avellaneda they indicate that "the Public Works area has become aware of the case" and that "they will try to find a solution together with the people of the area."
