An indictment was filed today (Thursday) against a resident of Ashdod who broke into a military checkpoint near the town of Shekef in the south, while driving three illegal residents and harming a soldier.

The Ashkelon Magistrate's Court found that the defendant, 23-year-old Ariela Turgeman, tried to mislead the soldiers and crossed the checkpoint into Israeli territory at high speed, even though they explained to her that the crossing was forbidden.

The acts described in the indictment, which attributes to Turgeman offenses of act of recklessness and negligence and transportation of a foreign resident staying in violation of the law, took place on Saturday.

So, she was driving a private car with three Palestinians - Muhammad Suiti, Farhan al-Suiti and Yussef Abu Amir - and approached the Gurevich checkpoint.

Turgeman asked to pass through with the vehicle, but soldiers in the 77th Battalion stationed at the intersection explained to her that there was no possibility of crossing and that she should turn to the Tarkumiya checkpoint.

After being told again for a few minutes that it was not possible to pass through the checkpoint, another vehicle arrived at the corresponding checkpoint.

The driver presented one of the soldiers with a passage permit and it opened the checkpoint in front of him, while the other soldier blocked the checkpoint she wanted to cross Turgeman.

At this point, Turgeman motioned for the soldier to triple a finger, and responded with the same gesture.

So, noticing that the second checkpoint had opened, she drove back in an attempt to show that she was willing and willing to leave - and quickly turned toward the checkpoint.

While crossing the crossing, she hit one of the soldiers, who was blown away by the force of the blow, and continued into Israeli territory while the illegal occupants were in the vehicle.

Shortly afterwards, she was arrested in Israeli territory.

The indictment filed by the detention branch at the Lachish police station states that Turgeman "acted in a hasty and negligent manner that could endanger a person's life or cause him injury."

The court ruled that she would remain in custody until the next hearing.
