- The water has long since drained away, but the damage caused by the catastrophic flooding in the district of Ahrweiler (Rhineland-Palatinate) is far from being repaired. As reported, the Miesbach branch of the Technical Relief Organization (THW) agreed to support the emergency services on site at an early stage. On July 27th, the THW regional association of Bavaria asked to send a platoon from the district town. The official assignment followed last Monday. Just two days later, the volunteers set out for the disaster area under the guidance of train driver Mathias Huber.

For two weeks, a total of nine helpers in two groups will be working in Altenahr to replace the train crew of the Schwabach local association.

Among other things, you are responsible for coordinating at least 100 emergency services from various aid organizations.

THW takes care of restoring the infrastructure

Parts of the Ahrweiler district are still without electricity.

The infrastructure has been largely destroyed.

Bridges, dams and roads no longer exist.

The main focus is therefore on the rapid restoration of the infrastructure.

He particularly focuses on the area of drinking water and the repair of water and electricity supplies.
