After the mayors of Hadera and Acre today (Thursday) ordered the entry of residents without a green sign, it is claimed that the motive for the move is not due to the increase in morbidity - but from racist motives.

As you may recall, the mayor of Hadera announced that the entry into the room of buses with foreign residents, who will arrive for the purpose of spending time and touring the city, will only be allowed upon presentation of a green sign or a valid negative corona check.

The municipality of Acre has decided to apply the green label to all its shores.

Members of the Legal Center for the Rights of the Arab Minority in Israel (Adalah) today submitted an urgent letter to the Ombudsman, detailing cases in which access to the beaches was illegally blocked to Palestinians in the cities of Netanya, Acre and Hadera. Mayor Shimon Lankri: "In the last month, we have had a failure here in the city - a serious health failure like no other, of buses coming from the territories of Judea and Samaria from Nablus, Jenin and Hebron."

A letter submitted by the Adalah Center further claims that during the Feast of Sacrifice, which was celebrated about two weeks ago, inspectors from the Netanya municipality banned the entry of Arab passengers into the city.

The center's lawyer, Rabia Agbaria Madalah, said that "the use of arguments related to the increase in morbidity to justify illegal measures of restricting freedom of movement and denying access to public areas for racist motives is beginning to become a phenomenon."

Member of Knesset Adv. Gabi Lasky (Meretz) said that these were illegal measures and announced that she would immediately address the mayors of Hadera and Acre in a letter exhausting procedures, and at the same time request a discussion on the issue in the Knesset's Constitution Committee. "Z," she said.

"This is not the way to fight Corona."

Moshe (Chico) Vaknin, a member of the Hadera City Council, told Walla!

Because the decision comes from security motives: "People come who we do not know their identity, do not have ID cards, they are without permits, we do not know how they enter the country to visit our beaches, how they enter the State of Israel," he explained.

"There is no precaution. We want to protect our residents."
