"Charlie
has undergone a procedure that has been totally successful

In a statement, the drummer said that he
makes a great effort to be fully recovered
, but explained that he has to accept the recommendation of the experts that this "will take a while."
The show must go on
"After all the fan suffering caused by Covid-19, I really don't want the many Rolling Stones fans who had tickets for this tour to be disappointed by another delay or cancellation," Watts noted.
"That is why I have asked my great friend Steve Jordan to present himself for me," the musician stressed, referring to who accompanied Keith Richards from the beginning of the guitarist's solo career.
Jordan was also the one who encouraged Richards to take charge of his own project, which he kicked off with the publication of the album
Talk Is Cheap
, along with his X-pensive Winos.

An old acquaintance of the band
The replacement for Watts, who also often works as a producer and had already replaced Watts during the recording of the album
Dirty Work
, released in 1986. Only on that occasion Watts absence was due to
the problems he was going through with alcohol consumption
, he will join the band as of September 26 in ST Louis.

In 2004,
Watts had been treated for throat cancer
at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
At the time, while he was going through his illness, the rest of the band waited until he was recovered to record what later became the album
A Bigger Band
, released in November 2005.
Later, when asked about the possible end of the Rolling Stones, Watts was very specific.
“I love Mick, Keith, Ronnie and I like my job.
But if it ends, nothing happens.
I can go on living without the Stones,
”he said.

The issue, of course, is that the Stones can hardly go on living without him.
Fortunately, he has someone to watch his back, as he regains momentum to mark the passage of the greatest band in rock history.
