The Constitutional Council validated, this Thursday, the health pass as a whole.

Seized by the Prime Minister himself and parliamentarians, the Wise Men had to decide on the extension of the device from August 9 to bars, cafes, restaurants, planes, trains and buses, as well as to medical establishments and shopping centers.

The Constitutional Council also does not reject the obligation for caregivers to be vaccinated against Covid-19.

Before the deputies of the National Assembly, before the vote of the final text, Prime Minister Jean Castex had announced that he would seize the Constitutional Council to verify that the text respected the Constitution.

“The health pass is not an attack on freedoms.

(…) On the whole of the text before you, I will refer the matter to the Constitutional Council, ”he said.

Deputies and senators had also seized the Constitutional Council on several provisions of the text.

Already extended since July 21 to places of culture and leisure, such as cinemas, museums, theaters or amusement parks, the health pass must be extended to other everyday places and long-distance transport from 9 August, as Emmanuel Macron announced in a speech on July 13.

After bitter debates in the National Assembly and the Senate, parliamentarians agreed on July 26 on the text.
