The east cycle route to the Ebersberg district will be implemented as quickly as possible.

A letter of intent to implement the plans is expected to be signed with the state capital of Munich in autumn.

District

- Despite positive signals from the town hall, the Munich city council has not dealt with the matter to this day.

With the Radschnellweg (RSW), the district wants to offer commuters in particular an alternative to the car.

For recreational cyclists who appreciate higher speeds, the east bike path should also be an incentive.

The district has two marginally different versions of the connection that extends as far as Markt Schwaben.

Basically, the route should begin at the Inner Ring of Munich's old town, head east via Bogenhausen or Haidhausen to the transshipment station in Riem, continue along the S2 via Kirchheim to Feldkirchen, Heimstetten, in the Ebersberg district to Poing and Markt Schwaben.

No agreement on routes yet

The neighboring communities of Aschheim, Kirchheim and Feldkirchen support the district office's plans.

There is still a need for discussion with regard to the route.

In detail, the municipalities envision their own routes.

The route should be coordinated with the municipalities.

With the takeover of the road construction burden decided by the district council, the district of Munich relieves its neighboring communities in the east.

The district office is currently calculating planning costs of 1.8 million euros, with 75 percent likely to be able to be refinanced through the Federal Ministry of Transport.

The total costs, including planning, land acquisition and construction, are 58 million euros.

Of this, 14.5 million euros go to the district of Munich.
