Damascus, SANA- Expansion of the investment of renewable energies in Syria constitutes an urgent need to secure alternatives to fossil energy

Damascus-SANA

Expansion of the investment of renewable energies in Syria constitutes an urgent need to secure alternatives to fossil energy that are needed by various productive sectors today, but they are witnessing a shortage and decline as a result of the systematic destruction of energy resources at the hands of terrorists, in addition to the repercussions of the unjust economic siege imposed on the Syrian people.

Director of the National Center for Energy Research in the Ministry of Electricity, Dr. Younis Ali, stressed in a statement to SANA’s delegate the need to move towards renewable energies to reduce the loads on the electrical network and to provide fossil fuels, in addition to the economic feasibility achieved, which will reflect positively on the services provided to citizens.

Ali stated that the government prepared the basic environment for investment in the field of renewable energies, as it issued Law No. 3 in 2009, which urges the use of renewable energies, and in 2010 Law No. 32 was issued to allow the private sector to enter the field of electricity generation for the first time, indicating that the government adopted a national plan for energies. The renewable energy sources until 2030 include the installation of 1500 megawatts of electricity, 900 megawatts of electricity, and one million and 200 thousand solar heaters.

Ali explained that legislation is currently being studied in the People's Assembly to create a fund to support renewable energies and raise energy efficiency. Citizens installed.

Ali pointed out that one of the negative aspects of energy projects is their high institutional cost, which requires the existence of mechanisms to finance them and facilities in lending from banks and the issuance of new legislation that contributes to encouraging citizens as energy consumers on the one hand, and industrialists to go to it and support its investment by the private sector on the other hand.

Ali revealed that a project with the University of Damascus to install collectors to produce 700 kilowatts will soon be completed, and there is cooperation with the Ministry of Education to benefit from the roofs of schools to install solar energies on them. Water only, and there are several requests under study from hospitals to install solar energy.

Ali stressed the readiness of the National Center for Energy Research to provide studies, consultations and technical support for the public and private sectors, where over several years, more than 60 projects for the public sector and 50 projects for the private sector were implemented in the governorates of Tartous, Homs, Damascus, its countryside and As-Suwayda.

On the mechanism of educating citizens about the importance of renewable energies, Ali explained that the center is about to launch an awareness campaign on this subject so that the citizen is technically aware of everything that surrounds him so that he is not exposed to fraud. energy before being referred to the center to study the technical information and ensure that this is

The equipment has a conformity certificate and has the technical specifications approved and specified by the center.

With regard to wind energy and the extent to which it can be benefited, Ali said, “Wind energy is one of the main trends that will be relied upon during the next stage, as the center identified the investment map for the wind turbine and the sites where there is wind, because this type gives energy twice as much as solar energy, pointing out that a turbine has been installed A wind farm on the Homs-Tartous road has a capacity of 2.5 megawatts, and there is a project for another turbine near the first project, in addition to a project that is currently being implemented in the village of Al-Dhahabiya in the countryside of Homs

It has a capacity of 7 megawatts, stressing that the Ministry of Electricity provides all facilities to encourage this investment, whether by solar or wind energy. This is related to the investor, his desire and his capabilities.

Ali pointed out that the center, in cooperation with the Syndicate of Engineers, is currently implementing courses to train engineers on renewable energies so that they can, in the next stage, provide the correct technical study and the required service.
