More and more Bavarian municipalities are taking steps to guide visitors.
In Upper Bavaria alone, 60 percent of the municipalities find the increase in day-trippers "very problematic".
Munich - In Bavarian tourist regions, the exposure to day-trippers has increased significantly, especially during the Corona * period.
The consequences: crowds of people, garbage and parking problems, which often lead to conflicts with the population.
More and more municipalities are therefore forced to take measures to direct visitors in a targeted manner.
A current survey by the Bavarian Center for Tourism (BZT) among 218 municipalities in Upper Bavaria, Eastern Bavaria, Franconia and Swabia shows that more than half of the municipalities want to implement extensive visitor management measures such as parking guidance systems and rules of conduct in the future.
Excursion regions in Bavaria: Day trips have increased significantly compared to previous years
75 percent of the municipalities stated that day trips in 2020 had increased significantly compared to previous years. A third of the municipalities state that the number has increased further in 2021. "The pandemic has certainly contributed to a greater rush in the already popular Bavarian regions," says Professor Alfred Bauer, Chairman of the BZT. 41 percent of the municipalities surveyed call the increase “very problematic” or “problematic”.
In Upper Bavaria it is even 60 percent.
The main causes of the problems are “misconduct” by visitors (22 percent), anger about parking behavior (15 percent) and littering (10 percent).
38 percent of the municipalities have already introduced measures to direct visitors in order to prevent wildlife parks, the destruction of nature, traffic pollution and the resentment of the locals.
However, it is important for the implementation of visitor management measures to collect data on the guests.
