The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) activated three red circulars against Luciano Marín Arango "Iván Márquez", one of the leaders of the FARC dissidence, informed this Wednesday the director of the Colombian police Jorge Luis Vargas Valencia.

The National Police indicate that Colombia's request to reactivate the search for Márquez is due to "serious crimes committed between 2001 and 2002".

"We have formally asked Interpol's central office in Venezuela to locate and capture alias Iván Márquez who is in Venezuela to be extradited to Colombia and answer for these crimes," said Vargas Valencia.

The Colombian Attorney General's Office reported in February that it opened an investigation and ordered the arrest for investigative purposes of Iván Luciano Marín Arango "Iván Márquez" for his alleged participation in the murder of politician and journalist Álvaro Gómez Hurtado and his bodyguard, perpetrated on 2 November 1995.

"Iván Márquez" is a fugitive from justice and did not react to this announcement from the Prosecutor's Office.

In July 2018 he resigned from assuming a senatorial position that had been awarded to him as a result of the peace agreements with the government, of which he was one of the main negotiators.
