Since 2011, the first Thursday of August is International IPA Day, which
pays homage to the
craft beer
style
most recreated in the world and
that had its origin when Great Britain began to export it to India in the 18th century.
The IPA or
India Pale Ale
is a beer that
stands out for its great bitterness
, a product of the incidence of hops in its production,
an alcohol percentage that ranges between 5 and 7.5%
and a color that can go from golden amber to copper.
Its
recommended pairing is with
spicy dishes, because the bitterness is an enhancer of the spices.
At a general level,
there are two types of IPA
: the
English school
IPA , which has a more earthy flavor and aroma
due to the type of hops it contains and also has the presence of caramel malts, and the
North American school
IPA
, which has a
more citric profile. bitter and dry than the previous one.
In recent years,
NEIPA
emerged on the east coast of the United States
, a variant of the style that is already a worldwide trend.
It stands out for being unfiltered, having a much lower bitterness than traditional IPAs and a fruity and silky profile.
