For another seven years, the municipality of Ismaning will bear the “bike-friendly” certificate, which the judges have awarded it again.

But there was also criticism during the tour.

Ismaning

- It goes on for seven years.

The municipality of Ismaning has received recertification and can continue to call itself a “bicycle-friendly municipality”.

The bicycle day with the commission's visit was no walk in the park.

The commission of the working group bicycle-friendly municipalities (AGFK) gave Ismaning the title seven years ago and now it was about the first extension. There was first the theoretical part in the community center, then a bike tour through the community. The guests looked carefully and checked what the church has been doing for the past seven years. Ismaning was able to present some good arguments. On the bike path from Ismaning to the sports park, for example, crossing the exit to the Lenzenfleck industrial park has been significantly improved and made safer. Mayor Alexander Greulich was also able to point out measures to promote bicycle traffic, such as the subsidy for all citizens to buy bicycles or the free rental of cargo bicycles. “We received a lot of praise,” Greulich reports later, “that was good for us.“The path of the Ismaning community has been confirmed.

"This is currently such a mess"

The AGFK commission did not just pound on the back, it looked at dangerous spots and problem areas with the eyes of non-residents.

You quickly got to the through-town, where the guests criticized several bottlenecks.

Greulich said that the municipality should not decide anything on the state road and that the state building authority would like to slow down traffic with narrowing.

He also made it clear that better bike racks in the vicinity of the train station (“This is currently such a mess”) are at the top of the list, but that the railway also has to take part.

There were also discussions about the roundabouts on Mayerbacherstrasse and Osterfeldstrasse. Here it was criticized that cyclists on cycle paths have to pay right of way several times and the solution is not very attractive. Here the mayor held against it: "If there is a crash at the intersection of Mayerbacherstrasse without a roundabout, then the cyclist is the second winner."

Martin Burschik, the representative of the ADFC regional association, gave the Ismaning people a few pointers along the way: “The target group equity is the challenge.

What is needed is a suitable offer for the fast driver as well as for the ten-year-old student. ”In addition, there is a need for separation between cyclists and pedestrians on the routes,“ because that is a programmed conflict ”.

He also suggested building lockers at popular bicycle parking spaces in Ismaning, because that would be very pleasant for tourists, for example when visiting the Ismaning museums.

The municipality of Ismaning also took away some ideas from the bicycle day about what could be done in the next seven years.
