The Observatory issued a red rainstorm warning signal and a special report on flooding in the northern New Territories at 1:30 am.

The Observatory stated that the northern part of the New Territories, especially the areas around San Tin, Ngau Tam Mei and Sheung Shui, are being affected by heavy rain.

In the past hour, more than 70 mm of rainfall was recorded in this area.

Within two hours from 1 am, the authorities received at least 14 flooding cases in the North District of the New Territories.

Among them, on Ping Che Road, a village house resident reported that water had penetrated the house and three people were trapped inside the house; there was also a village house flooding in Hinosaur Pit, and a couple was trapped; in addition, it was reported that there were private cars in Heung Yuen. Wei, Jundi Bugezai Road, and Heshang Township in Sheung Shui were trapped in the water, and the people in the car were unable to leave.

The firefighter is heading to the scene to assist the trapped people.

Among them, at the roundabout off the Xiangyuanwei border control station, it is reported that the water depth was more than 1 meter at one time. A Toyota seven-man vehicle and a Lexus SUV broke down in the water at the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured.

It is understood that Lexus was originally on the Luolian Ma Hang Road along Xiangyuanwei Highway. The driver had already seen flooding, and he hoped to break through the water barrier due to the height of the SUV, but was eventually trapped in the middle of the water.

Workers then arrived at the scene to help clean up the debris on the canal cover.

As far as the scene is concerned, the debris on the canal cover that obstructs the flow of water is suspected to be mud and fertilizer from nearby flowers.
