It won't work with Mittenwald as the seat of the authorities: The Free State's special inspection center for the Office for Weights and Measures is not located under the Karwendel, but in Grafenau in Lower Bavaria.

Mittenwald

- The Free State's special testing center for the Office for Weights and Measures is not located in Mittenwald, but in Grafenau in Lower Bavaria.

A corresponding letter from the Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs recently reached Mayor Enrico Corongiu (SPD).

"Ultimately, it probably didn't come to that because of the contaminated sites."

The town hall chief speaks of the failed purchase of the real estate Free State of Bavaria (IMBY) of the area in question on the site of the former site administration (StoV).

IMBY handles real estate transactions on behalf of the state - in the case of Mittenwald with the Federal Agency for Real Estate Issues (BImA).

This in turn is to sell the orphaned StoV site on behalf of the federal government.

The most recent example with IMBY shows: The contaminated sites problems are not only a heavy burden in the negotiations with the market town of Mittenwald.

Since September 2016, the municipality has had the first access option for the 4.6 hectare area in a central location.

But neither under Mayor Adolf Hornsteiner (CSU) nor under his successor Corongiu has so far been able to reach an agreement.

In the town hall meeting, the town hall chief announced: “A little something has happened.” His suggestion: Before the market community acquires this huge area on Tiefkarstrasse, the floor must be in perfect condition - 90 percent of the disposal costs should be borne by the federal government and ten percent by Mittenwald . Corongiu now believes in a thaw. “I have the impression that one has become more accessible.” In the case of the Bavarian special inspection body, this approach comes too late. Because not only at BImA, but also at IMBY, there seem to be cool calculators. “They reckon that the removal costs will be well above the value of the property.” Corongiu can only refer to the letter from Munich and draw his own conclusions. "Because in the end we were no longer involved."

As a reminder: In the course of the relocation of the authorities initiated years ago, the complex of the Office for Weights and Measures was to be built next to the existing Bundeswehr wing on an area of 2,750 square meters. There they wanted to accommodate laboratory, technical and administrative rooms for around ten employees.
