“Today the day has come to inform you that I will leave the OC on August 31 at my own request.” This is how Fritz Dopfer writes it in his official statement.
A shock for Florian Fischer: “It came as a complete surprise for us.” In particular, because we had had good and far-reaching conversations with Dopfer.
Immediately after the new elections on July 8th, Fischer sat down with Dopfer and showed him the future path that they wanted to take together.
In mid-July, Dopfer said goodbye on vacation, after which he again sought a conversation with Fischer junior and the second chairman Martina Betz.
That was last Monday.

“He asked for a lot of details. So we thought it was about fine-tuning, ”says Fischer. But after about two hours, Dopfer said that he might want to devote himself to something completely new. A day later this decision was made. "From the sum total of the experiences of the last few months and the open discussions with the new board of directors, I realized that it is now time to set myself new professional goals," writes Dopfer. He does not want to say anything more precisely, everything has been said. A shock for Fischer and Betz.
The managers of the ski club emphasize that it was not because they did not want to give Dopfer enough responsibility or authority.
“We rolled out the red carpet for him,” emphasizes Fischer.
"We would have been ready to adjust certain points," adds Betz.
Although they did not want to hand over the position of managing director directly to Dopfer, they did want to develop it for that purpose.
But even this topic was not decisive, as the SCG chairman assures.

Use existing skills: "World Cup will not lose quality"
How does it go from here? The management duo went straight to work to find an answer to this. Well with success. "The World Cup is not in danger and will not lose quality," assures Fischer. The magic words here are restructuring and extra work. In addition, new workers are to be found at the lower level. You can also rely on the years of experience of the entire Kandahar team. "The people acting now all know what to do," emphasizes Betz.
And yet there is a lack of the necessary know-how in terms of finance and controlling. This is where Peter Fischer comes into play again, who had built up Dopfer as his successor, so to speak. “We're not going back to old structures, but we have to make use of the existing skills,” says Fischer junior. His father will work in the background, be an adviser, without an official position. In the run-up to the World Cup, all threads will come together with Birgit Seipp, the management assistant. Florian Fischer takes over this position during the races. As soon as the 2022 World Cup is over, those responsible will start looking for a replacement for Dopfer. That is not possible beforehand. "You can't just tell someone: read this through, we'll show you a little - and then it will work."
