The Unity Hong Kong Fund interviewed 1,012 Hong Kong citizens over the age of 18 about the development opportunities in the Greater Bay Area in April. More than half of the citizens agreed that the Greater Bay Area plan would bring economic benefits to Hong Kong and believed that Hong Kong’s linkage with the development of the 9 Mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area could achieve " Scale up."

The survey results have three major findings. The public objectively agree with the economic benefits brought by the Greater Bay Area and the promotion of Hong Kong's economic diversification, and they agree that life in the Greater Bay Area is gradually becoming a trend.

Respondents believe that whether a specific professional qualification is certified, corresponding or certified has a decisive impact on the desire of professionals to develop in the Greater Bay Area.

Some surveyors interviewed pointed out that their professional qualifications are not recognized in the Mainland. For example, the membership of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors is divided into 6 groups. Only property surveyors, quantity surveyors and building surveyors can be qualified to practice in the Mainland.

Huang Yuanshan, senior vice president of the Unity Hong Kong Fund and Dean of the Public Policy Research Institute, said that whether professional qualifications are certified by the Mainland as the primary barrier for Hong Kong immigrants in the Greater Bay Area, he believes that the government can cooperate with policies.

In addition, 36.7% of the respondents disagree that Hong Kong’s collaboration with the Greater Bay Area City Development will promote economic diversification. He Xingyan, the social situation researcher of the Solidarity Hong Kong Fund, said that due to the different employment conditions in the market for different types of jobs, people in the financial industry may think that Hong Kong has There are many opportunities, but people in the innovation and technology circles will think that the Mainland can provide Hong Kong with more room for development.

She believes that the Hong Kong government can work with the central government and the Macau government to establish a constant communication mechanism and information co-ordination platform to provide a clear blueprint for those who intend to develop in the Greater Bay Area.
