Three residents of the center were arrested this week on suspicion of trafficking in weapons using forged documents and selling them to criminal elements. The investigation of the cases shows that the suspects acted in the same pattern, according to which they initiated an appeal to innocent civilians who published their firearms for sale, and presented the sellers with various forged documents including weapons licenses, lawyer details, identity cards of other people involved, various weapon numbers and more. After purchasing the weapons, the police estimate that those tools were handed over to criminal hands.
The investigation revealed that these were many cases that took place in various places around the country and that some of the transactions were completed and executed, and some amounted to attempts to make a purchase that were not completed due to the suspicion of the sellers. After the investigation became public, the three suspects were arrested, taken to the police for questioning, and the court extended their detention. Police are now seeking to extend their detention again.
Another involved in the affair is a policewoman who was arrested by the Police Investigations Department, on suspicion of leaking information she passed on to merchants in exchange for benefits.
Omri Weil, a 55-year-old Holon resident who also serves as the director general of the "Let a Man Live" organization, was also arrested on suspicion of forging documents and conspiracy to commit a crime.
