On June 20, the government approved the establishment of a commission of inquiry into the disaster.
The position of the previous government, and especially that of the heads of the ultra-Orthodox parties, was against the establishment of the commission of inquiry, but the recommendations for its establishment were included in the coalition agreements of the Bennett-Lapid government under a special clause.
The proposal for the establishment of the committee was submitted to the government for approval by Defense Minister and Blue and White Chairman Bnei Gantz and Finance Minister and Chairman of Yisrael Beiteinu Avigdor Lieberman.
Last week, the committee members toured the site for the first time, with the aim of "being directly impressed by the infrastructure," and were greeted with shouts by a group of lone ultra-Orthodox who shouted, "You can't get Rashbi out of the hands of the ultra-Orthodox."
