The Corona Cabinet is holding a vote tonight (Thursday) in a telephone poll on the Green Label regulations at events, hotels and gatherings. Four ministers - Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman, Economy Minister Orna Barbibai, Internal Security Minister Amar Bar-Lev and Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton - voted against an ordinance that exempts synagogues from regulations and forgives green prayer halls only when there are 50 worshipers or more. The installation was approved by a majority of 7 supporters, despite opposition to the exception.

The Green Mark regulations were approved in principle without excluding synagogues at the Corona Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, and only then was the exception added, in view of concerns raised by the Justice Department about the harm that may arise in prayer freedom as a result of preventing an unvaccinated or untested person from entering a prayer house.

Therefore, the Ministry of Justice agreed with the Ministry of Health to exclude prayer houses and allow synagogues with a capacity of less than 50 people to continue operating without a green sign, and the exception was added during the drafting of regulations.

Some cabinet ministers were outraged at what they called a snatch, but regulations were approved, including the exception, despite their opposition.

The Corona Cabinet on Tuesday decided to impose further restrictions on the public in the face of rising morbidity in the Corona, including expanding the outline of the green mark, the obligation to wear masks even in open spaces during crowds, and expanding the list of countries requiring isolation.

During the discussion, some of the ministers raised the possibility that another closure would be imposed on the public during the coming month.

Today the green label applies to places with over 100 people, indoors or outdoors.

As of August 20, the green label will also be extended to places where there is a crowd of less than 100 people, and to all ages (even under the age of 12).

Only people who have been vaccinated, recovering or with a valid negative corona test will enter these places.

Until August 20, children under the age of 12 are allowed to enter places with a green sign without a test, because they are not entitled to be vaccinated, but from that date they will also have to undergo speed tests.

From Sunday, speed testing complexes will be deployed throughout the country.

A person who can be vaccinated and has not done so, will have to pay about 90 shekels for each test, which is valid for 72 hours.
