Colombian authorities reported this Thursday that 149 bars of pentolite-type explosives were seized, equivalent to 67 kilograms.
In addition, approximately 700 meters of detonating cord were seized that, they indicated, were going to be used in a “terrorist action” in Bogotá.
The material was located in Ciudad Bolívar, located in the south of the capital, after intelligence work carried out by the National Police with the support of the Attorney General's Office.
The policemen searched a man and a woman who were carrying six rolls of cloth and there they found the hidden explosives.
Both were captured and placed at the disposal of the Justice.
The "Second Marquetalia" and explosives
In a statement, the police indicated that, according to the information gathered, the elements belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group (GAO-r) called the “Segunda Marquetalia” or “Narcotalia”.
They presume that they were acquired by "traffickers and criminal contacts" of Ecuadorian nationality and sent through a courier company from the border area of Ipiales to Bogotá.

The police point to “Iván Márquez”, against whom three Interpol red circulars were activated on Wednesday, and Hernán Darío Velásquez Saldarriaga, alias “el Paisa”, as the people who ordered the terrorist action.
With this, according to the authorities, it was intended to demonstrate a “supposed superior criminal capacity of the Second Marquetalia against the residual structures under the control of aliases“ Gentil Duarte ”and aliases“ Iván Mordisco ”.
Meanwhile, "Iván Márquez" is a fugitive from Justice and did not react to this announcement.
The Defense Ministry reported in a statement that samples of the seized explosive were taken to compare it with others that the FBI has in the United States.
The objective is "to identify if this explosive has characteristics similar to those used in other terrorist activities."
