There are three locations for new cell phone masts in the community of Aßling.

Because the Telekom is pressing, it should now go quickly.

The nearby railway tracks play a role in this.

Aßling

- There is simply not enough radio in Aßling.

That's what the railway says, what the network operators say, what the federal government says.

That is why Aßling is likely to get two new cell phone masts in the coming year - a third is likely to follow with a delay, according to Mayor Hans Fent.

The masts should be up to 40 meters high and should cover the community with the current 5G standard.

Telekom is not doing this fast enough: This year a provisional radio mast could go into operation at location number one, on the edge of the forest to the west of the Obstädt district.

The group does not need a long approval process for this.

The mayor explains that there is a need to be in a hurry because the federal government is urging network operators to quickly and continuously receive mobile communications along the ICE railway lines.

One of these leads past Aßling from Munich towards Austria.

The second planned Telekom location also covers the tracks: the mast is planned between Niclasreuth and the southern border of the district, close to the railway line.

Experience elsewhere has shown that other operators are likely to follow suit with their antennas at the new locations.

Expansion accelerator rail - Mayor promises that local citizens will also benefit

"Aßling also benefits from this," says Fent about the operators' plans.

The third new location will follow east of Lorenzenberg at the water reserve.

In this area in particular, there are more frequent complaints about poor reception.

The mayor calls the existing cell phone network in the community “not sustainable” - a pole at the recycling center, that no longer meets the increased demands.

Aßling had to make improvements to the new locations last year, also in order to meet the needs of the network operators.

In the most recent meeting, the municipal council nodded its approval on the current status of the concentration area planning, which the municipality has a say in the choice of location.

"Very positive," said the mayor about the planning.

It was possible to create a good legal basis for the necessary new masts.

"Without wild growth and outside the main town," says Fent.

In this way, the municipality is complying with a “majority wish” of the citizens.

The local council only took note of individual objections from citizens to radiation, the appearance of the site and the dimensions of the building project.
