Out of the final the US relay, only sixth in the battery run by the Azzurri.
Better than the Patta-Jacobs-Desalu-Tortu quartet were Jamaica (37''82), China (37''92) and Canada with the same tempo.
Great Britain (38''02), Japan (38''16) and the fished-out Germany (38''06) and Ghana (38''08) (ANSA) will also race in the final.
