With their foot on the brakes, cars pushing the button, slowing down… It's summer's catchphrase for motorists on the N 184 between Méry-sur-Oise and Frépillon.
The direction of the roads of Ile-de-France (Dirif) began last Monday to renovate the roadway of this national, used daily by some 60,000 vehicles.
The site should be completed on the evening of August 27.
It is a question of rehabilitating 2 km of roadway in the Beauvais-L'Isle-Adam - Cergy direction, just before the Mériel - Villiers-Adam exit and just after the interchange with the A 115. A new asphalt, half of which is recycled, will cover this section for a total cost of 1.3 million euros, financed by the State.
As part of the multiannual improvement program for N 184, 5.6 million have been invested since 2016.
Traffic on a lane and limited speed
Consequently, the traffic is switched to the interior direction of the Francilienne and limited to one traffic lane instead of two.
The speed is also reduced to 70 km / h in this zone and to 50 km in traffic changeover zones.
“With the lowering of the speed limit, the single-lane traffic and in addition the trucks, I had to lose ten minutes.
And I didn't leave at 8 o'clock.
I imagine that at rush hour, the journey time is even longer, especially as the slowdowns are felt 4 to 5 km upstream, ”assures this motorist, who will have to take his troubles patiently until almost at the end of August.
"We avoid major roads"
For this professional of the road, it is also “very annoying.
I took a client to Roissy, I had to go through Méry and Mériel, it doesn't take much longer.
On the other hand, when we come back, we waste a lot of time.
Because although it is early August, there are people on the road, ”says Hervé, taxi driver, for whom these slowdowns also have financial consequences.
“I have a client that I'm going to pick up at Taverny.
I have to take the A115.
There, instead of taking 10 minutes, I'm going to put in 20. And when we work on a fixed price, we are not a winner at all.
Whether you put ten minutes or an hour into a race, you win the same.

And for good reason, the slip roads of the Francienne (entry from the D 1, exit to the D 1, entry from the D 44 and exit to the D 44, exit to the D 928) are closed.
Exchanges between the A115 and the N 184 are limited to the A115 direction towards N 184 outside and N 184 outside towards A115.
He and his wife have found alternative routes to get around traffic jams.
Only, they are not the only ones.
“We avoid the main roads, but like full of people and suddenly, it's the bazaar in the center of Méry.
And from August 21, it may be more complicated.
People will start to come home from vacation.
