Brawls between gangs: a young man hit by a car and hit in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois

After Arthur's death, lynched on the night of July 15 to 16 in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, the authorities and families feared a "return match".

The first reprisals took place this Wednesday evening.

Around 10:30 p.m., in the parking lot of the Carrefour de Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois, a minor is targeted by a car which "hits him on purpose" and "tries to run over him", indicates a police source.

The young man takes refuge in a parking lot that the car cannot access.

But the five attackers do not stop there.

They then get out of their car and catch up with the minor before beating him up.

Only the presence of a witness and his dog will make them flee.

The victim, slightly injured, is from the Saint-Hubert district, in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois.

Right where Arthur died.

Rivalry between two rap groups

Later that evening, police from the anti-crime squad spotted the attackers' car.

The driver and two other suspects are arrested, said a police source.

The car was also seized.

The Alliance union says it is "very worried about this increasingly strong violence," said spokesman Claude Carillo.

On July 29, a 22-year-old young man was indicted for murder and attempted murder in legal recidivism after the assault on Arthur. The night of the tragedy, around 1 am, Arthur, who was from Saint-Michel-sur-Orge, went to the rival district of Saint-Hubert in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois with a friend “in a goal of retaliation, ”said the prosecutor at the start of the investigation. On scooters and armed with a gun, the two young men were greeted by a group who beat them badly. Seriously injured in the head, and after having cardiac arrest, Arthur died three days later in the hospital.

His death takes place in a context of rivalry between two rap groups,

in Saint-Michel-sur-Orge and

in Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois. For several months, the reciprocal dissemination of provocative clips has engendered an outbreak of violence. Last May, a 15-year-old teenager was hit with a hammer in front of the Léonard-de-Vinci high school in Saint-Michel-sur-Orge. Out of the coma, he is still in rehabilitation. In this case, two teenagers were indicted for attempted murder.
