Summertime is vacation time - even during the corona pandemic.

Many Germans are drawn to Italy, Spain or Croatia.

You can read about the situation there here.

While some are already on vacation, others are still on vacation.

And especially in times of the corona pandemic, it is important to be well informed about the current situation at the travel destination - so that there are no unpleasant surprises.

We have summarized the corona situation in the most popular holiday countries for you.

Italy vacation: Stricter corona rules for restaurants & Co. apply immediately.

The corona incidence in Italy * is now again at a value of

66.6 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants

. So far, however, this has not resulted in any further restrictions when returning home - apart from the general compulsory test for unvaccinated people, which has been in force for all holiday returnees since August 1st. With a share of 89.3 percent (source: GISAID), the delta variant is responsible for the majority of infections in the last four weeks. The Italian government has now also reacted to the increasing number of cases and tightened its corona rules in the country.

From

August 6th,

access to the interiors of bars, restaurants or sports facilities will only be possible with the “green pass”.

With it, guests can prove a negative corona test, a full vaccination or a recovery.

It must also be presented in museums, cinemas, theaters or at concerts.

From September 1st, the “green pass” will also be compulsory on all public transport, including domestic flights, trains and ferries.

Before entering the country, travelers must

fill out

the

digital passenger localization form (dPLF)

.

You also need a negative corona test or proof of a full vaccination or recovery.

Vacation in Croatia: What travelers have to consider

In Croatia, the

7-day incidence of 30.8 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants is

currently still low.

The trend is currently increasing slightly.

The business initiative GISAID puts the proportion of the delta variant in the infection rate at 89.6 percent in the last month.

When entering the country, all travelers from an EU member state must present a valid, digital EU Covid certificate.

It is used to prove that you have been tested, vaccinated or recovered.

A PCR test can be a maximum of 72 hours old, while a rapid antigen test can be a maximum of 48 hours ago.

In addition, the travelers' contact details are registered for the duration of their stay.

The Federal Foreign Office advises you to store the information online in advance in order to avoid waiting times at the border.

Spain vacation: current corona situation and rules

After the incidence in Spain was now over 300, it has now

fallen

back to a value of

256.42

(source: Ministerio de Sanidad). In the Balearic Islands, the Spanish Ministry of Health records an incidence of 301.06. The reason for the sharp rise in the number of cases in July could be the previous easing for nightclubs and discos. Some regions have responded with nightly curfews. The Balearic Government has reduced the number of people allowed at a table in outdoor restaurants to 8 (in indoor restaurants to 4) and introduced a nocturnal ban on gatherings between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., which will initially apply until August 23.

Those arriving by air must fill out the

health control

form on

the Spain Travel Health portal

, from which a QR code is generated.

This must be presented upon entry or at check-in.

When returning to Germany, all travelers over the age of twelve must have a general test, provided they have not been vaccinated or have recovered.

Spain is also classified as a high risk area, which is why the digital entry form must be completed.

Unvaccinated travelers also have to be quarantined with a negative corona test.

There is the possibility to “free-test” yourself after five days.

Holidays in Greece: these are the rules

In Greece, too, the incidence is

quite high

with

181.9 new infections

per 100,000 inhabitants. So far, however, there has been no classification as a high-risk area. Returning from vacation is possible for unvaccinated people with a negative test. When entering the country, all travelers over the age of twelve must also present a negative corona test. Alternatively, proof of full vaccination or recovery is accepted. The seven-day quarantine requirement does not apply to those arriving by air or to the main ferry ports and border points on land. In addition, the online form “Passenger Locator Form” must be filled out, from which a QR code is generated. It must be presented upon entry.

Apart from that, Greece is currently

massively affected by forest fires

- now also north of Athens.

There are also fires on the Peloponnese or the island of Evia.

Due to the scorching heat, archaeological sites may also be closed in the afternoon.
