Magdeburg - While the contentious issues are still open, Saxony-Anhalt's CDU, SPD and FDP are facing a breakthrough in their coalition negotiations on the distribution of responsibilities.
In a small circle, the parties basically agreed on the ministries' cuts on Thursday, as the German Press Agency subsequently learned from groups of participants.
The parties therefore still have to finally agree internally to the allocation discussed.
They should also decide for themselves who will fill the ministerial posts.
Saxony-Anhalt: SPD has to hand over ministry to CDU - FDP receives traffic
The SPD can keep the Ministry for Social Affairs, Labor and Integration currently headed by Petra Grimm-Benne, which also includes the health sector. The second previous SPD ministry for economy, science and digitization, however, is to be converted into a ministry for economy, agriculture and tourism and will go to the CDU. The area of science remains with the SPD, which also receives the areas of environment and energy from the former Ministry for Environment, Agriculture and Energy.
The FDP is to take over the Ministry for State Development and Transport, which will be expanded to include the area of digitization to become an infrastructure ministry.
The Ministry of the Interior, as well as the Justice and Education departments and the State Chancellery, will remain in the hands of the CDU.
But there could be minor changes to the cuts, said negotiators.

So far, the parties have not wanted to officially comment on the personal details, but apart from the judiciary, all areas are considered assigned. It is also agreed that the current finance and interior minister Michael Richter (CDU) will remain finance minister and the former interior secretary Tamara Zieschang (CDU) will become interior minister. The former President of the State Rectors' Conference could take over the newly formed Ministry for Environment, Science and Energy.
According to reports, the Ministry of Infrastructure is taking over the FDP state chairwoman Lydia Hüskens *.
After two legislative periods of abstinence, the 57-year-old led the Free Democrats back to the state parliament as the top candidate.
In the state elections on June 6 *, the FDP achieved 6.8 percent.
