The Red Cross (BRK) readiness Germering showed with a special campaign in front of the town hall how easy it is to help fellow human beings.

Germering - The BRK blood donation service was represented in the town hall. In front of the town hall, the on-site standby organized a rather spontaneous action. “Resuscitation flash mob” is what the helpers called their project, which was intended to promote the provision of first aid, among other things. Musically, the whole thing was underlaid with the sound of the cult film "Saturday Night Fever". This also ensured that the attention was drawn not only to the people who went next door to donate blood.

“That is what we wanted,” explains Alexander Becker, head of the BRK standby.

You have to make it clear to people that providing first aid with a defibrillator is possible for everyone.

“You can't go wrong there,” emphasizes Becker.

The device works in a self-explanatory manner.

“The only mistake you can make is not to help,” Becker insisted afterwards.

And so Becker's deputy Oliver Labsch mimes the victim who collapses on the square in front of the town hall. Lisa Beringer, who came to support from the BRK Olching, is, so to speak, the first aider. The backdrop is formed by a few curious people, but above all by those people who have made their blood donation appointment in the town hall. "They are weighed in by the BRK," said Becker. That is why they deliberately set both actions at the same time in order to have an audience.

In a sense, this plays along by watching Beringer provide first aid - and insistently looking around and asking several times to dial the emergency number.

“Doing that is the minimum,” explains Germering's standby manager Becker.

Even those who fear that they have had an accident can at least inform the control center.

Not reacting at all is the worst of all possibilities, adds Labsch, who, however, has two special groups on the kieker in the event of an accident: gawkers and sensation-hungry people.

“No understanding of this, especially if they hinder an operation,” says Labsch.

Intervene on site or get upset, but don't go.

As a rescue worker, you have to concentrate on the injured person.

In addition, the action with the "resuscitation flash mob" has a further background.

The Germeringer BRK readiness counts almost 30 active members.

"For us, the corona pandemic added a number of tasks." Becker wants to say that the campaign also serves to recruit members.

Young people can be offered good training, but active work on site is only possible from the age of 18.

are displayed through a special app.

This also shows which devices are currently accessible.

There are currently ten of them in public places - including in the foyer of the town hall and in the town hall.
