An official investigation had already come to the conclusion that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo had sexually molested several women.
Now a victim has filed a criminal complaint.
The sheriff in Albany, the capital of the state of New York, is now checking this ad, reported numerous US media, citing the authority and lawyers of the woman.
The woman is said to work as Cuomo's assistant. In 2019, Cuomo grabbed her chest in his residence, reached under her blouse and forced her to hug. He is also said to have touched her bum while taking selfies. This was reported by the New York Post. She was very shocked, said the assistant to the official investigation. She wanted to tell other people about it, but was afraid of losing her job.
Cuomo is already facing criminal prosecution from at least three regional prosecutors in New York State who have requested evidence from Attorney General Letitia James for review.
In addition, the Chairman of the New York House of Representatives, Carl Heastie, has announced that Cuomo will be impeached quickly.
According to experts, it will take several weeks before this could start.
Biden has already called for Cuomo's resignation
Previously, an investigation led by Attorney General James showed that Cuomo had sexually molested former and current employees of the state authorities. Among other things, there were unwanted touches, kisses, hugs and inappropriate comments. In addition, the governor, who has been in office since 2011, has created a "hostile working atmosphere" and a "climate of fear" for women, according to the 168-page investigation report published on Tuesday.
Numerous prominent politicians from both parties then called for Cuomo's resignation - including US President Joe Biden.
Cuomo rejected the allegations via video message and initially did not address a resignation.
Should Cuomo resign or be removed from office, a woman takes over the office: the deputy governor Kathy Hochul.
She would be the first female governor in the history of the state of New York.
The Democrat Cuomo has been Governor of New York since 2011.
He has already been re-elected twice and in the meantime was even under discussion for a candidacy for the presidency.
