Whether it's a family vacation in Italy, relaxing on Sylt or pedaling for ten days: the mayors of the Würmtal also need a break from everyday life.

Whether it's a family vacation in Italy, relaxing on Sylt or pedaling for ten days: the mayors of the Würmtal also need a break from everyday life.

Würmtal

- The summer holidays have started, and while some mayors in the Würmtal still have to wait for their vacation, others have long been relaxing.

One of them is Gauting's mayor Brigitte Kössinger, who is currently on vacation with her husband on the French Atlantic island of Noirmoutier.

On the island, the two can swim, hike, ride a bike and, by the way, improve their French language skills.

The couple then combined the journey home with a visit to Kössinger's French godchild and his family in central France.

Family vacation in Tuscany

Krailling's mayor Rudolph Haux is already on summer vacation.

After a few days off at home, he will travel to Italy for two and a half weeks with his wife, 16-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son.

First the family is on vacation in Cecina, a small town in Tuscany.

Then the four of them would like to relax for another week in an agricultural holiday complex with pool and grill in the Tuscan city of Lucca.

“We'll just have a good time, relax and ride a lot,” says Haux.

"Bavarian vacation" at home

Planegg's mayor, Hermann Nafziger, is also free.

He is very happy that now, after the golf courses have been closed for a long time, he can finally pursue his hobby again and practice on the course.

He's not going south this year, that's still a little too unsafe for him due to the corona.

Instead, as he puts it, he is taking a “Bavarian vacation”.

That means: staying at home, going on day trips to the mountains, going to the beer garden with friends and family, playing a lot of golf, going out for a nice meal, barbecuing and working on your latest project - building a wooden terrace yourself.

Relax on Sylt

Peter Köstler, the first mayor in Graefelfing, has to be patient a little longer.

His summer vacation doesn't begin until mid-August, but then he goes to Sylt with his wife and a family of friends.

He has already visited the North Sea island several times and discovered that the Wadden Sea is a bit too cold for him to swim.

“Maybe we will spend our next summer vacation in the south,” says Köstler.

But now he is looking forward to a quiet time on Sylt and hopes for "reasonably good weather".

Cycle 60 to 70 kilometers per day

Neuried's Mayor Harald Zipfel's vacation plans look more sporty than relaxed. “We cycle like every year.” He, his wife and two friends want to cover 60 to 70 kilometers a day. Originally they had planned their route along the Ahr. But because of the catastrophic flooding in the Ahr valley, which also destroyed some bike paths, the four of them rescheduled and now want to pedal for ten days on the Lahn and Moselle rivers.
