Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova confirmed that Britain has demonstrated its double standards through its stance on the elections in Russia and the United States.
The British delegate to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Neil Bush, said, “Moscow’s determination of the number of observers that the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) can send to the upcoming Duma elections will make it impossible to evaluate the elections in a credible manner.” .
Commenting on the statement of the British representative, Zakharova said on her Telegram channel: “Where was Neil Bush and the entire British Foreign Office office when the “ODIHR” team for the US presidential elections 2020 was formed?” She added: “Does Neil Bush know how many observers were They arrived in the United States at that time, and many of the American states did not allow them to enter it. How can the British official describe his behavior or justify his double stances?
The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe recently announced that it would not send observers to accompany the Russian Duma elections scheduled for next September, "due to Russia's request that the organization limit the number of observers against the backdrop of the epidemiological situation."
The Chairman of the State Duma’s International Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky confirmed that the organization’s decision was politicized, explaining that “Russia proposed the formation of a mission of 50 observers from the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and 10 observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. It was considered politicized because the Russian request was talking about health rules and not about restrictions for other reasons.”
