The renovation of federal highway 17 is in full swing.
Now that the road between Schongau-West and Altenstadt is open again, the last section of the busy road is being renewed.

t - So far, everything has been going according to plan with the renovation of federal highway 17 in Schongauer Land. On this Monday, as planned by the Weilheim State Building Authority, the construction section between the Schongau-West and Altenstadt junctions can be opened to traffic again. Nevertheless, all road users will need a lot of patience in the coming weeks: According to the building authority, work on the last section will start on the same day, also on August 9: the road between the Altenstadt and Schongau-Nord junctions will be renewed. The 2.2-kilometer section is therefore closed for around three weeks.
In particular, Schongau residents have to prepare for traffic jams and longer travel times: once again, traffic will be completely rerouted via Lechstadt, according to the state building authority.
Because traffic obstructions are to be expected in the urban area, those responsible ask you to "drive around the construction site as much as possible during the rest of the construction work".
Estimated three weeks
Three weeks are estimated for the work from Monday.
"Weather-related shifts cannot be ruled out," says the Weilheim State Building Authority.
In parallel to the road renovation between Altenstadt and Schongau-Nord, work on converting the Altenstadt junction is continuing.
The work is expected to continue until mid-September, there should be "in due course still separate information regarding the necessary traffic regulations".
Road construction work to renew the road surface on the B 17 began at the beginning of the Whitsun holidays at the end of May.
The sections between Hohenfurch and Schongau-Nord, Peiting-West and Schongau-West as well as a section on Augsburger Straße between Schongau-Nord and the hospital have been completed so far.
