Holzkirchen

- Anyone who is hungry in Holzkirchen doesn't have to look far.

There are a few restaurants, and so far there have been seven Italian restaurants.

The Asian cuisine is also well represented.

Now the culinary offer is growing again. A sign on the shop space at Münchner Straße 5 announces another “Asian restaurant”. The topic recently popped up in the building committee when it came to a change of use (we reported). In addition, at the beginning of August, owner Narinder Singh opened his Pizzeria Holzkirchen at Tegernseer Straße 3, in the rooms of the former Bar Centrale. There are specialties from India and Italy. With this concentration now the question arises: Is the competition stimulating the business or is the Italian and Asian gastro market in Holzkirchen long since saturated?

Singh explains the unusual culinary fusion in his restaurant: “We come from India and bake pizza.” He and his team are not newbies. They operated a delivery service on Marienstraße for eight years. The demand was so high that Singh looked for suitable rooms. “We wanted to find a place where people can sit.” By chance he came across the local area on Tegernseer Straße. The fact that there are already a few Italian restaurants and another Indian eatery - the Masala - in Holzkirchen does not deter Singh. “Despite the competition, we can keep up well.” He relies on old regular customers.

Enrico Melaragno, who has been running his Ristorante Pizzeria La Molisana for 30 years and also opened his Osteria Da Enrico two months ago, is relaxed about the new competition. The existing one couldn't frighten him. “Everyone does their business,” he says. “Everyone has their customers.” His regular customers would enjoy his kitchen for generations. “You have to do it right.” On top of that, every restaurant offers its own dishes. He also has specialties from his home region of Molise. The new osteria is a vinotheque where he serves regional starters.

Hung Trieu, owner of the Asian kitchen at the train station, strikes a different note. He is not enthusiastic about the new Asian restaurant that is opening at Münchner Strasse 5. “It's not good for us in such a small place.” They vie for customers, especially since the HEP already has the Canton China restaurant. In his industry, it is difficult to specialize in just one country kitchen in order to stand out. “Very few people do that,” says Trieu. His restaurant, which has existed for a good five years, cooks across the Asian region: the menu includes Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai dishes.

The location promotion from the town hall wishes for more diversity. According to studies, the inner city of the future will become a space for experiences and encounters. "That means it is important to have a variety of offers," explains town hall spokeswoman Sissina Weber. A differentiated offer is the desire of all location promotions, city and vacancy managers as well as business promoters. However, it is difficult to always find the right offer or operator. The influence of the location promotion is limited: Since it is private real estate, you can only express your opinion if you contact each other. "We are heard by the building authority administration in the case of requests for a change of use."

"At the moment it seems that every restaurant has enough customers," says Weber. There are also differences between eight Italians - from the atmosphere to the dishes. Every citizen has different preferences. "If the offer and the experience are right, there will be enough guests." The same applies to the Asian restaurants. “The variety in a place of this size is very large and hardly any wish remains unfulfilled.” If the promotion of the location could wish for something personally, it would be in the direction of Lebanese, Moroccan, Mexican or Spanish cuisine. Not to be forgotten are the new trends from bowls to DimSum or Poke. But: "As is well known, tastes are different, and in the end demand still controls supply."
