Dr. Edwin Asturias, who was director of the Presidential Commission for Covid-19 Emergency Assistance, COPRECOVID, sent a very harsh open letter to President Alejandro Giammattei in which he accuses him of having lost his desire to mitigate the pandemic. In the letter, Asturias also says that the president is suspected of "wanting a superb presidency, more like a reign without restrictions." For his part, Giammattei was surprised by this message and published the resignation letter that Asturias presented, in which he expressed that he considered that the commission to which he belonged had fulfilled most of its mission, while praising the commitment of the Government team to address the serious health emergency of the pandemic and praised the decision to put Amelia Flores at the head of the Ministry of Health.
