Moosburg

- The city of Moosburg has set itself the task of "upgrading a playground every year", explained 2nd Mayor Georg Hadersdorfer at a press conference on Thursday at the playground on Kanalstrasse.

The city nursery there, under the direction of Michael Guyens, has been tinkering since May and created a play paradise for children.

And the men did quite a job in 281 working hours.

Where there was once a red children's carousel, a new rotating game (“Supernova”) has been set up - on red fall protection mats.

On the modern device, said Guyens, you can not only turn around, but also "do sports".

The turning game is suitable for children between six and 15 years of age.

The wooden play equipment on the artificial slope is for children aged three and over: climbing and balancing fun are guaranteed here.

The great thing: the entire climbing tower is made of untreated robinia - the most durable wood that can be used outdoors and is free of harmful substances, explained the city gardener.

The city spent 11,500 euros on the wooden play equipment with balancing bridge, climbing ladder, slide and suspension bridge, and 4,300 euros for the rotating game.

“The most expensive thing is the working hours,” said Guyens.

All in all, the city has invested 32,000 euros in the playground on Kanalstrasse - a sum that is budgeted annually for playgrounds in the household, according to Hadersdorfer.

There are over 20 large playgrounds in the city of Moosburg - many of them are getting on in years.

Step by step, you want to either completely refurbish them or replace individual devices.

During their weekly check-ups, the employees of the municipal gardening department take care of 43 playgrounds, many of which are very small.

In addition, the city of Moosburg is considering building an adventure playground, Hadersdorfer revealed.

They are currently looking for a suitable location.

But the goal is to start next year.

The second mayor did not want to say anything about how the playground could look like - after all, the specific plans also depend on the area.

But Hadersdorfer could already imagine “something with a mountain and a cable car”, he said and smiled.

By the way: The old “climbing mushroom” at the playground on Kanalstrasse “that existed when I was a child”, says Hadersdorfer, will be preserved.

“It's a cult”, the city gardener also knows.
