Guatemala has been in political turmoil for more than two weeks with several demonstrations against President Alejandro Giammattei and Attorney General Consuelo Porras since July 23, when Porras announced the dismissal of the special prosecutor against corruption Juan Francisco Sandoval.
Indigenous and peasant groups have joined the protests in different parts of the country and the capital.
