2021-08-07T22:01:06.428Z

"For me the Argentine public has a very strong magic, very special. It is like a lot of passion," said the singer.

(CNN Spanish) -

From her studio in Los Angeles, where she has lived since she was 17 years old, Sofía Reyes spoke with Marcelo Longobardi.

The young Mexican star reviewed the main moments of her career, affirmed her desire to dedicate herself more to acting and the desire to sing live again after the quarantine, in which she dedicated herself to creating songs.

And he stressed that he has the best memory of his ex-boyfriend Ricky Montaner and that "the Montaners are the best."

Longobardi: “Idiota” the song is very nice and the video is very good

Reyes:

The truth of the truth is from my favorite songs and my favorite videos.

The song came out just before the quarantine kicked off.

So I no longer had to really promote the song or be able to enjoy it out there.

Longobardi: How was it going from Monterrey to Los Angeles alone at 17?

Reyes:

Well, at first it was a somewhat difficult experience, because obviously going from Monterrey to Los Angeles is a very different culture.

I went with Charly and Paloma, who are my managers, so I am grateful that I did not literally go alone.

It took me like five years to feel at home and I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I didn't have so many friends here, at first I made it a matter of feeling that I didn't belong here or there.

Longobardi: It's hard being a tourist in Los Angeles.

I imagine moving there and living in a city where maybe people don't greet you in the elevator must be tough, especially for a girl.

Reyes:

Yes, yes, yes.

Obviously, coming from Mexico, we are used to saying 'Hello!

Thanks a lot.

What floor are you going to? '

And here people are used to going to the movies or restaurants alone.

And yes, at first it was like stronger and then I got used to it.

I think the most difficult thing for me is that it has always been difficult for me to make friends.

I was always very sorry for the accent I had, the very strong accent in English, so I preferred not to speak.

It made me sad to approach people to say hello.

So it was really hard for me to be friends.

I think that was the hardest part.

Like a fear of rejection.

Longobardi: What was your career like at 17?

Kings:

When I left Los Angeles it felt more like it was a theme that it was a dream that I had, I half saw things happening, it was really a preparation issue. At the same time, he did not know what he was experiencing. And it was with “Muévelo”, which was the first single where I have Warner as a label, where I start to travel, which is where the 20th falls for me (I realize it): I mean, things are really happening. I remember I was in Spain and I sang at a festival in front of 35,000 people and they all knew the song and it was something that I had no idea. I dare to say that, in Mexico, Spain and Argentina is where I have felt the most affection and support from the people and I say to all my Argentines, they know it, that I have a lot of affection for all my people there, because from the beginning they have supported me and yes,I feel like this is how my career started six or seven years ago.

Longobardi: Something happens with Mexican women who sing, is it a response of Mexican women to what has happened for years in a complex country for women like Mexico?

Reyes:

Quite macho.

I think we are at a very beautiful and important moment in history where we are talking.

Where women are talking, where there are many movements, where there are many women who are breaking it, as they say in Argentina, in their own way.

And at least it gives me a lot of pride and happiness that I am at this moment in life as a woman, as a Mexican, also doing my thing.

I hope I can share that message, be that woman who can inspire other women and who knows that we are capable of absolutely everything.

Longobardi: The idea of musicians in collaboration with others is not a new phenomenon and it has already been used by gigantic musicians: Sinatra, Pavarotti.

Do you usually work in collaboration with other musicians?

Reyes:

I am a fan of collaborating with other artists.

What happens is that there is so much talent in the world and for me it is very nice to see the process.

A song that, for example, if I write it, has a certain world, a certain magic and when it comes to inviting some other artist, what they bring to the table is complete, it takes the song to another space completely.

And I really like that.

I really like exploring sounds, I like it.

For me, one of the biggest dreams I have is to travel around the world to learn more about their culture, to be inspired, to create more music.

Longobardi: And who would you like to collaborate with from now on?

Kings:

Oops, there are a lot of artists. You mentioned Julieta Venegas, she is one of my favorite artists. I had the opportunity in quarantine to collaborate with Michael Bublé, who for me was one of the artists with whom I most dreamed of collaborating. Crazy. He speaks perfect Spanish, I say. I met the whole family, briefly, and nothing: it was a very nice experience. And a song with Yandel and Sia has just come out, which for me is, I can't believe it! And every time I listen to it I start to cry because they are two artists that I admire a lot. And Sia is one of the composers that I also admire the most in the world, so being able to have that opportunity is crazy. And as I said before, countless artists with whom I would like to collaborate. I would love to have a song with Miguel Bosé: for me it is one of the biggest dreams I have. I grew up listening to his music every dayliterally.

Longobardi: The song with Sia just came out.

Reyes:

This Friday a song came out of her.

It's called “One Plus One” with Yandel, Captain Yandel.

And the song was very beautiful.

I'm super, super honored to be able to have this song with these two amazing artists and the principle of being able to continue collaborating with them.

So thanks to all the people for receiving this song.

Longobardi: Who is the "idiot" in your famous song with that name?

Reyes:

The idiot knows that he is the idiot.

He knows.

He always knew.

And then I confirmed it.

But he's a guy, he's a friend, he's a friend I went out with who was kind of bad.

So I had there as a little advice and well, to write that song.

And so it was, so it was the story.

Longobardi: There is a song of yours in a video that is “1, 2, 3” that has had 659 million views.

Reyes:

Crazy, yes.

I don't even know how much that is, it's a lot.

It's too much.

Well yes, the truth is that “1, 2, 3” is a song that surprised me like crazy and that it is a song that is a before and after my career, that I always say: 'I'm going to be 98 years of life and I'm going to continue singing it on stage. '

All my life I will have a lot to the song.

It's that song that I come and sing live and I already know that “1, 2, 3” is going to be like the song that people are waiting to sing.

It is the first song in which I put cumbia.

It's also like the beginning of a way to explore that side that I really like.

Longobardi: Where did Ricky Montaner stay in your life?

Reyes:

Well, he is a friend, who for life is going to be someone very, very important to him and the whole family.

I love them very much and admire them very much also as a person and as an artist.

And now, it was a very beautiful stage of my life, where I grew up and we shared many things well, well, parents, so I will always be very grateful to Ricky.

They are the best.

These are people that when I met them I said I don't know anything, but I want them to be in my life.

They radiate a lot of love, a very beautiful vibe, a very beautiful energy and the whole family is like that.

The Montaners are the best.

Sofía Reyes: The Argentine public has a special magic 1:11

Longobardi: Will you hope to sing in public again?

Reyes:

Yes, yes, and that is happening.

The tours are back.

I hope I can go to the Carlos Vives concert in Los Angeles.

I think it's wonderful.

And already excited to be able to go see other artists.

And as soon as I release my album, I will start to be able to give shows, that is coming in the next few months.

I am planning the new stage of live shows with my band and in the end what I enjoy doing the most: singing live.

Longobardi: What do you think of the Argentine public?

Reyes:

It's awesome.

For me, the Argentine public has a very strong magic, very special.

It's like a lot of passion, very intense, very pretty ... I miss Argentina a lot.
