Lenggries-Anger recently opened a new contact point for fresh products from the farm.

The Hohenreiter family has set up a shop on their farm - for goat's milk and eggs.

Lenggries

- The idea came up, says farmer Andrea Hohenreiter, after her family converted the farm to organic and goat farming. The family keeps 80 goats; their father used to have cows. “We wanted consumers to come to the farm. Because many don't just dare to come here. ”However, the aim is to make it clear to the customer that he can get the products fresher and more natural directly from the producer. Sales should also serve as a second pillar for the farmers. At first there was only goat milk to buy, "but milk alone is not enough," says Hohenreiter.

That's why eggs have recently been introduced.

These are laid by 235 chickens that are housed in a mobile hen house.

The advantage of this: The animals always find fresh pasture.

The meadow is staked out again and again, the chicken coop in which the animals lay their eggs is moved once a week.

The chicken coop is ultra-modern: it opens automatically at 10 a.m. and closes again in the evening.

“That works great,” says Hohenreiter.

The family bought the mobile chicken coop from a farmer in Augsburg, who makes it himself.

The chickens are happy too.

“You can tell from the way they run out and scratch at once.

You are busy all day.

It's really interesting to see how they behave, ”says Hohenreiter.

The farm shop is already quite well received.

So far, the customers have been mixed: locals, but also travelers.

A sign on the B 13 shows the way.

A real eye-catcher at the Hohenreiter's farm is the large graffito that adorns the chicken coop: It was created by the Lenggries artist Florian Scheitler.

“That turned out really nice,” says Andrea Hohenreiter proudly.

Everything is just beginning, but there should be more products in the future.

For example, from goat's milk or broken eggs.

"We're just thinking back and forth."
