The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union condemned the continuous aggressive practices of the Turkish regime against Syria, especially the deliberate and repeated practices of cutting off water supplies to Al-Hasakah Governorate, stressing that they are a violation of human rights and the principles of humanitarian law.

The Union said in a statement today: “The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union expresses its deep concern and dissatisfaction with the recurrence of aggressive Turkish practices against the brotherly Syrian Arab people in the neighboring regions of Turkey, especially the deliberate and repeated practices of cutting off drinking water from Al-Hasakah Governorate and its villages, which are now living in compelling and exceptional health conditions. imposed by the Corona pandemic, as well as the harsh climatic conditions and the unprecedented rise in temperatures in this region.”

The statement condemned "the repetition of this inhumane behavior with its catastrophic and health consequences as a result of depriving more than one million innocent civilians of their legitimate and human right to access healthy drinking water."

The statement renewed its call on the Turkish regime to respect the relations and principles of good neighborliness, to act wisely and logically, to restart the Allouk station to its full capacity and to put a final end to these actions and behaviors that are a violation of human rights and the principles of international humanitarian law, calling on the international community to intervene immediately to end this human tragedy and to demand the Turkish regime to act according to It was stipulated in the Fourth Geneva Convention and the provisions of international human rights law to protect the rights of civilians in time of war, in particular their legitimate right to drinking water and sanitation.

The statement affirmed its support for all national, Arab and regional efforts aimed at resolving the crisis in Syria and working to end it in order to achieve peace, security and stability in this strategic region of the world, and "all the good efforts aimed at reaching a political solution that restores to the brotherly Syrian Arab Republic its pivotal role in the Arab region and the whole world."
