The number of deaths from corona in the fourth wave is rising, with only 26 people registered last weekend whose lives were claimed by the virus.

And with more than 6,500 deaths since the epidemic broke out in the country, the preoccupation with data and graphs has become an integral part of the Israeli reality.

Behind those numbers, however, are families, faces and entire lives that have been cut short.

Kiryat Bialik council member Yaakov Bohbot became infected in March, and since then his condition has deteriorated and his body has succumbed to the virus.

The family of Aliza Ganish, 75, from Netanya, who was infected just a week and a half ago, is having a hard time talking about their beloved relative in the past, and 80-year-old Yitzhak Malka from Nahariya survived five months as hospitalized until he was diagnosed with the virus.

Here is the story of some of the Israelis who contracted the virus, and succumbed to it in the current wave.

About two weeks ago, Yaakov Bohbot, a member of the Kiryat Bialik council, died at the age of 67, 126 days after she fell ill in Korona.

Bohbot was diagnosed with the virus on March 18 and was hospitalized in critical condition at Rambam Hospital in Haifa. A few days later his condition was defined as critical and he was anesthetized and resuscitated. The transplant can be performed and he succumbs to the virus.

The mayor of Kiryat Bialik, Eli Dokorsky, expressed deep sorrow over the death of a city council member and said that he visited him a few days before he passed away.

"He was in moments of enlightenment, alert, smiling at us, excited and happy about the meeting, which was actually a farewell meeting. He tried to speak but without success due to the connection to medical devices. Unfortunately the next day his condition deteriorated significantly and he was put to sleep until his death. "Social sensitivity and exemplary family man. He always stood out in his presence. I share the family's grief and mourn the loss of a warm and sensitive public figure."

Yaakov Bohbot left behind a wife, Sima and three children, Avishai, Omar and Assaf, who celebrated a particularly sad birthday the day after his father's death.

Yaakov is the younger brother of former Knesset member Yaakov Bohbot, who was mayor of Maalot Tarshiha and chairman of the local government center.

Aliza Ganish, 75, from Netanya, died on Thursday after contracting the corona virus. She is survived by a husband and five children. About a week and a half ago, Ganish was evacuated to Laniado Hospital in the city after not feeling well, and four days later hospitalized, she was released to her home after it was made clear to her family that they could not leave corona patients who were not in serious condition in the hospital. A few days later, her condition deteriorated and she was evacuated to the hospital again while she was breathing and anesthetized, and on Thursday she passed away.

Aliza was born and raised in Libya. The family later immigrated to Israel and settled in the city of Netanya, in the Ein Hatchelet neighborhood, where she had known her future husband for 56 years - Moshe Ganish.

"I do not believe you survived everything and in the end the corona took from us the purest treasure," mourned her granddaughter Niv Ganish Steinberger, "the woman and the legend, the strong and the brave, the good and the happy, all the best qualities can be written about you. Both outside and inside - a woman of valor. I do not believe I need to talk about you in the past tense. Cheerful grandmother, how Grandpa Moshe loved you and cared for you until the last minute. Giving, compassion, attitude - love that is really only seen in movies. "

"Dad was an exemplary family man."

Another person whose body succumbed to the virus is Yitzhak Malka.

The 80-year-old Nahariya resident was a chef at a large catering company in the northern region.

Malka, who he and his wife Rosa were twice vaccinated with, was hospitalized as early as February, but in the first week in the hospital was not diagnosed at all as verified to Corona.

Only after his wife fell ill was he further examined and he came out positive.

From the day he was hospitalized at the Galilee Hospital in Nahariya, Malka did not leave the hospital for five months.

Yesterday he was pronounced dead after experiencing a systems crash and also suffered a heart attack.

His daughter, Anat, said: "Dad was an exemplary family man, he loved the family and most of all was happy when we were together."
