"Both the prosecution and the complaint supported in their respective allegations the theory that Rebolledo was the author of the femicide of Agustina Atencio (17), in

an attack triggered by the refusal of the young woman

to have sexual relations with the accused," according to a statement from the Public Prosecutor's Office of Río Negro.

Meanwhile, the young man's defenders considered that it could not be proven that he had previously attacked her, so it was

an accident or self-injury

.

Now the judge must define a new hearing to announce the conviction.

For cases of femicide, the only penalty provided is

life imprisonment

, which in practice represents at least 35 years of effective compliance.

The case

Rebolledo was not unknown to Agustina.

During the trial, prosecutors realized that

the victim's sister had been

the defendant's

girlfriend

.

The young woman testified before the jury that she had ended the relationship because it was violent.

The night before the crime, Rebolledo

had tried to seduce another girl

during a party.

After these events, according to the prosecution, on the afternoon of February 29, 2020, Agustina was with Rebolledo in the area of the "Los Rodríguez" campsite, next to the Colorado River in the town of Catriel, in the north of Río Negro.

They had come there after Rebolledo had picked her up to share alcoholic beverages at the spa, taking advantage of the fact that the girl was drunk.

Under these circumstances, he managed to get the adolescent to accompany him to another more hidden sector, but given her refusal to have sexual relations, Rebolledo

attacked her by force,

causing injuries to different parts of her body.

Then he hit Agustina on the head and threw her into the river, where she

drowned

minutes later, while Rebolledo left the place.

According to the autopsy, the injuries present on Agustina's body were produced when she was alive, and some of them were

compatible with a sexual assault
