Javier Pinola fractured the ulna on his right arm.

That was the result of the X-ray film that was done to the River defender this Sunday, after the injury he suffered on Saturday night in the match that Marcelo Gallardo's team lost to Godoy Cruz in Mendoza for the Professional League and that forced the central marker to leave at halftime.

According to

the River doctors

confirmed to

Clarín

, the fracture is below the area in which it had been fractured in February in the match against Platense.

That afternoon (Sunday, February 28), Pinola fell ill after jumping to head a ball divided with a Squid player and broke the radius and ulna bones of his right forearm.

The recovery took ninety days but - with the break in between for the holidays - he was only able to play again after almost five months.

This time, the rehabilitation will be less, 45 days, according to River's medical team.

And unlike the previous one, it will not be operated.

In principle, it will be enough to immobilize the arm and wait for the bone to heal.

Pinola had returned to play on the first date of the Professional League against Colón.

That day he started at the Monumental and completed the 90 minutes of the game that River lost 2-1 against the Santa Fe team.

Against Godoy Cruz, by putting a team with a majority of substitutes, Gallardo put it back from the start.

It was Sunday February 28 at the Platense field.

However, the 38-year-old bald defender could only play 45 minutes.

Near the end of the first half, after a collision with Godoy Cruz forward Tomás Badaloni, Pinola again felt pain in the area of his right forearm.

He kept playing the last minutes of that first half but had a hard time moving his affected arm.

For this reason, he did not go out to play the second half and David Martínez replaced him.

This Sunday the fracture was confirmed.

Pinola had renewed his contract with River for six months.

It expired in June of this year and he extended it until December to continue competing with Marcelo Gallardo's team.

He had not set deadlines for his retirement and wanted to see how he made it to the end of the year to decide.

Now, true to his style, he will put all his efforts to at least get back to playing before the sporting activity of 2021 ends.

Pinola is not the only injured player in River.

Robert Rojas and Agustín Fontana continue to recover from a pubalgia and a tear, respectively.

While Gonzalo Montiel (strain on the right hamstring) and Matías Suárez (strain on the left adductor) do so from muscle injuries.

The right-back is ruled out to play against Atlético Mineiro on Wednesday for the Copa Libertadores but the Cordovan would arrive.
