Government ministers today (Sunday) expressed opposition to preparing for a closure, given the sharp rise in serious illness.
Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton said on the subject that: "We need to remove the issue of closure from the agenda. People are in existential anxiety about their livelihood."
Shasha Bitton added that "the very fact that we are talking about it, we are establishing a reality on the ground."
Intelligence Minister Elazar Stern joined in, saying: "We need to uproot this word 'closure' from within us, we are making people live under threat."
On the other hand, Minister of Internal Security Amar Bar-Lev emphasized that the possibility of closure is real, against the background of the spread of the delta.
"I also do not think the public should be intimidated, but the truth is that reality is frightening. The worst situation is not to mention the word 'closure' and then in four weeks we will reach a closure. The truth must be told - it is in the hands of the public."
