He's not quite going yet.

But he is preparing his final farewell: Pastoral advisor Bernhard Skrabal from Fahrenzhausen.

Fahrenzhausen / Haimhausen

- It would have been too abrupt t for the parish association of Fahrenzhausen-Haimhausen if this special employee had simply been gone overnight.

That is why the pastoral advisor Bernhard Skrabal is retiring in stages.

After 13 years he is now changing to half a position in the parish association for a year.

Bernhard Skrabal was pastoral advisor in the parish association Fahrenzhausen-Haimhausen for more than a decade and looked back on a total of 38 years in pastoral care. "Maybe you have to think differently and act differently," said Skrabal, describing his work very well. The pastoral officer was always open to new approaches. He approached many exciting things with conviction: from the lived ecumenical movement to the parish association's YouTube channel, on which, of course, his partial farewell service can also be found. Skrabal looked back on many tasks: for example, how to lovingly design day-care centers, how to make parish homes and churches fit for the future. “This room speaks for itself”, said Skrabal about the churches in the parish association and reminded of the calm with which children and young people behave in places of worship.Bernhard Skrabal has already relinquished a number of tasks over the past few years. Now he's taking the next step. “I'm not gone,” he says. "But I'll be there less."

"Church is always changing, but there is a way to the managed church," said Skrabal, explaining the current process.

In many places it is only a matter of “somehow keeping the store running”.

With this he connects his great wish for the future, “that the church is made alive again from below”.

People always long for peace, salvation and encouragement.

Pastor Stefan Menzel remembered with a smile that he had already gotten to know him once while doing community service in Karlsfeld: “You were a young, dynamic pastoral consultant.

You are still dynamic - and young at heart. "

Later in the parsonage, Pastor Stefan Menzel imitated the pastoral advisor, who is only known with a headset on his ear - he usually worked on two or three construction sites at the same time.

After a festive service in Haimhausen, the largest church in the parish, there was a farewell party in the parish hall.

Representatives of the parishes from the Fahrenzhausen municipality were also there.

Bernhard Skrabal was thanked for many projects.

Again and again it became clear that one appreciates his clear words as much as the dry humor.
