Three brothers aged 20, 23 and 28 from the village of Zarzir were arrested today (Sunday) on suspicion of murdering their mother, a 46-year-old Nof Hagalil resident, and hiding her body in the mountainous Jordan area.

The mother was initially reported missing, but later the suspicion grew that she had been murdered, until her body was found disguised.

The affair began last Friday morning, when a private vehicle broke into a police checkpoint in the Jordan area and raised suspicion that its occupants were involved in a criminal incident.

Upon receiving the report of the incident, police forces began searches to locate the vehicle as well as to locate the identities of its occupants.

As the investigation progressed, the police linked the incident of breaking the checkpoint to a report of the absence of a 46-year-old woman who moved from Beit Zarzir to the Galilee landscape, and the name of one of the missing woman's sons came up as a suspect in her absence and breach of the checkpoint.

After an investigation and cross-referencing of location information, the suspicion grew that the woman had been murdered. Simultaneously with the searches carried out after her, her son, the suspect in the breach of the checkpoint, "went underground" and disappeared for hours. The suspect was eventually arrested after a foot chase, near the settlement of Nahalal.

Police continued to search for the missing woman, and after 26 hours of searching, the woman's body was found in the mountainous Jordan area. As part of the investigation, three sons and another relative of the murdered woman were arrested. The detention of the three boys was extended by nine days.

Northern District Commander Superintendent Shimon Lavi said that "the rapid activity of Central Unit investigators in locating the suspect, and the suspicion they raised that it was murder, led to the launch of all Northern District forces in a quick and extensive operation to locate the victim and prevent her disappearance, proving once again our full commitment Use of all the means at our disposal, airborne, ground and special. The Aman Center, the Arab Center for a Safe Society, said 68 people from Arab society, including 58 men and 10 women, had been killed since the beginning of the year: "The Arab population has been severely damaged due to the failure of government bodies to deal with this crisis. In addition, the leadership of the local Arab minority is unable to deal effectively with the problem due to lack of real help."
