Comprehensive medical services for everything related to heart diseases provided by the General Authority of Al-Basel Hospital for Heart Diseases and Surgery in Damascus, including “diagnostic coronary catheters, dilatation, valve replacement, aortic dissections, or some congenital dissections.”

The hospital’s services are not limited to cardiac surgeries, according to the statement of its director, Dr. Ragheb Suleiman, to SANA. Within its outpatient clinics, it provides diagnostic services, conduct echocardiograms, Doppler and stress testing, in addition to the presence of a private clinic for electrocardiography and a surgical clinic, as well as physical therapy services after surgery. With regard to securing primary medical supplies, Dr. Suleiman pointed out that the coercive economic measures imposed on Syria negatively affected the health sector in terms of importing medical and pharmaceutical materials, indicating that the materials are secured with the support of the Ministry of Health to ensure the continued provision of services and the absence of any interruption.

Dr. Suleiman pointed out that the hospital was recently provided with two new catheters and CTs that were installed and specialized workers were trained on them so that they could be put into service soon.

The cardiology department in the hospital performs about 35 operations per day, including diagnostic catheterization and installing networks, according to the head of the department, Dr. Yassin Bani Marjah, pointing out that the clinics receive about 40 patients daily, in addition to patients from outside the governorate, and all services provided at nominal costs.

And about the mechanism of work in the ambulance department, its head, Dr. Manar Al-Akkad, stated that it receives daily from 60 to 70 patients at an annual rate of more than 19 thousand people, most of whom complain of heart infarctions and disturbances of the electrical rhythm of the heart, explaining that after diagnosing the patient’s condition in the ambulance department, which has a capacity of 6 beds, he is transferred to cardiac or regular care.

During his visit to the outpatient clinics in the hospital, the patient, Faisal Al-Zein, stated that he visits the hospital periodically to check on his health, as he undertook a heart bypass operation a short time ago, noting the quality of services provided within the hospital with regard to the surgical and therapeutic aspects and the efforts of the existing medical staff.

Mrs. Umm Talal, who suffers from chronic fatigue, went to Al-Basel Hospital from Masaken Barzeh, during her statement to SANA, she noted the services provided by the hospital and the symbolic prices that “never compare with the fees of private clinics and hospitals.”
