Implementation of the photovoltaic plant continues in the industrial city of Sheikh Najjar in Aleppo governorate, and after the completion of the first phase, the second phase has begun, and it is expected to be completed within the next two weeks.

Dr. Eng. Kameet Assi Al-Sheikh, a member of the Executive Office of the Aleppo Provincial Council, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the construction of the photovoltaic station in the industrial city of Sheikh Najjar with a capacity of 33.5 megawatts comes within the government’s directions to rely on economic alternative energy and to partially secure electricity for the industrial city by relying on alternative energy and the operation of industrial facilities .

Al-Sheikh explained that Aleppo Governorate worked to localize and establish alternative energy sources in cities and industrial areas to benefit from them as pioneering projects in securing electrical energy for industrial facilities. It works to reduce carbon emissions by an amount of 39 thousand tons and to provide the use of fuel fuel in an amount of 13 thousand tons, and thus the positive reflection on reducing the economic cost of the national product and enabling it to compete in the markets and to overcome the conditions of the economic siege imposed on the Syrian people.

SANA’s camera visited the work site and monitored the work of leveling the land, preparing it and removing the earth in preparation for the start of the steps to complete the station. Azzam Al-Hassan Sahib and the director of the Hawana company executing the project stated that the station’s capacity to generate electric power is 33.5 megawatts, and after extending the contract, it became 42 megawatts, and the implementation of the 18-year contract was started. A month has passed, of which 4 months have passed, and the first phase of the project has been completed, which includes the preparation and leveling of 250,000 square meters of land and the removal of rubble. The metal and the 105,000 solar collectors and the fence of the station with a 4 km long concrete wall.

Al-Hassan pointed out that the second phase includes the expansion of the plant to produce 100 megawatts of electricity on an area of 850,000 square meters, thus reducing the amount of 50 percent of the electrical energy used by the city of Aleppo and reducing the hours of rationing.

Engineer Abdul Latif Kashtaari from the Industrial City, supervising the implementation of the plant, referred to the mechanism of division of labor in the project, which covers an area of 35,000 square meters, where the scraping of the soil has been completed, its displacement and the implementation of the leveling works, and by the end of November of this year, the first phase of the project will be received to produce 5.5 megawatts, after which the implementation will be completed in phases.

Engineer Hazem Ajjan, director of the industrial city in Sheikh Najjar, indicated that the alternative energy in the industrial city was worked on and benefited from after the city was liberated from terrorism. 33.5 megawatts, the project was delivered and it is currently under implementation. It is expected to enter the first phase of investment and work by the end of this year and to secure 5.5 megawatts of electricity. The location of the station was chosen near one of the main substations and all the infrastructure will be put at the service of the project as it ensures the stability of electric power in The city, stressing that the alternative energies constitute an important and great opportunity for industrialists to take advantage of them and work on installing them to secure the electric energy for their facilities.
