Activist Greta Thunberg was known for her tenacity.

Now she adorns the cover of the Scandinavian Vogue magazine and hands out against the fashion industry.

Stockholm - After being featured on the cover of the UK's GQ in 2019, climate activist Greta Thunberg is now also decorating the new cover of an issue of Scandinavian Vogue - and is taking the opportunity to express her criticism of the fast-moving fashion industry.

“The fashion industry is a major contributor to climate and environmental emergencies. Not to mention her influence on the myriad of workers and communities around the world being exploited so that a few can enjoy fast fashion that many treat as disposable, ”she comments under the post she shares with her followers on the social Media shares. The industry's attempt to be environmentally conscious is what it describes as “greenwashing” - a method of pretending to be environmentally conscious without actually advocating for the climate.

Many companies in the industry would try with all their might to act responsibly by investing imaginary amounts in campaigns in which they describe themselves as “sustainable”, “climate neutral” or “fair”.

In their opinion, it is not possible to mass-produce clothing or consume it sustainably if there is no fundamental change in the system.

This year's Frankfurt Fashion Week also discussed how fashion can be produced more sustainably.

The fashion industry is a huge contributor to the climate-and ecological emergency, not to mention its impact on the countless workers and communities who are being exploited around the world in order for some to enjoy fast fashion that many treat as disposables.

Thunberg's criticism of the fast pace of the fashion industry

During the interview with

Vogue Scandinavia

, Greta Thunberg reveals to the magazine that she has not bought any new clothes for 3 years: "I just borrow things from people I know."

According to the magazine, it agrees with Thunberg's visions for a sustainable and climate-friendly future: “Over the past three years, Greta Thunberg has become the world's most recognized activist, who regularly calls on the rulers of the world to stop the climate crisis . Because of our love for nature, we couldn't think of anyone better for the cover of the new issue of Vogue Scandinavia. ”The clothes that the young activist is wearing in the photo are therefore also made of sustainable and recyclable materials.
