Iran today (Monday) set a new record in the number of coronavirus deaths, with 588 casualties. According to the state television channel, every two minutes a corona patient dies in the country, the focus of the worst outbreak in the Middle East. Authorities are complaining about the lack of social remoteness, and in some hospitals there is no longer room to receive new inpatients while the vaccination campaign is in place - only 4% of Iran's 83 million citizens have been fully vaccinated.

The Islamic Republic, which is already in the fifth wave of the epidemic, reported 94,603 dead and about 4.2 million diagnosed in total. As in many other countries in the world, Iran also links the current outbreak to the contagious delta strain. According to official Iranian television, most of the 31 provinces have gone from orange to red, according to the local morbidity index.

In January, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei banned the import of American or British vaccines, claiming they were unreliable and could cause infection.

Iran claims US sanctions are preventing it from acquiring vaccines from other countries, even though they are exempt from the sanctions imposed by Washington on Tehran since President Donald Trump withdrew from the 2018 nuclear deal.

New Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, who yesterday received the first dose of vaccine developed by local industries, called on the authorities to speed up the pace of vaccines, and to take "all necessary measures" to curb the epidemic.

In France, the law came into force today that expands the need for a green label, including restaurants and cafes, train travel and hospital visits. The "health certificate," on which the government hopes to encourage immunization, is displayed in a digital or paper barcode. She is the granddaughter of those who were vaccinated in two doses, came out negative on a corona test or recovered.

The government's plan provoked much opposition in France, and on Saturday 237,000 took to the streets in protest against the green mark. It was the largest demonstration since the protest broke out four weeks ago, but polls show that the majority of the French public supports the government's measures to curb the epidemic.

"The approval, along with the immunization operation, are supposed to help us avoid new locksmiths," Health Minister Olivier Varane told La Parisian newspaper.

President Emanuel Macron hopes to see an increase in the number of vaccinated following the new restrictions.

To date, 55% of those eligible for the vaccine have already received the second dose.

Medical sources in the country said that since the beginning of the restrictions, more than seven million appointments for vaccines have been ordered.

Italy: Green note for vouchers

In Italy, where the green mark has also taken effect in recent days, police uncovered an online network that forged the documents and identified four suspects, including two boys.

According to police, the counterfeit certificates were purchased in digital coins or vouchers for purchase online, for between 150 and 500 euros, while guaranteeing complete anonymity.

Since Friday, entry to cinemas, museums, closed sports games or sitting indoors in restaurants has been conditional on the presentation of the green label issued for those vaccinated with at least one dose, recovering from the virus in the past six months or those who have tested negative in the last 48 hours.

The green label will be extended to travel by train and bus after September 1, and university education staffs as well as students will be required to carry it.

Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza said 20 million Italians had taken off their green badges in the past three days.

And while in Europe the vaccine rate is starting to rise, morbidity indices in the United States are rising at an alarming rate again, especially in Republican countries. One is Texas, where hospitals report congestion in intensive care units as authorities warn of a "catastrophe."

"The situation is critical," said Desmer Vox, of the Austin-Travis County Health Authority. "Our hospitals are under tremendous load and there is very little we can do to alleviate the load on them in light of the surge in the number of cases."

Texas trauma services, which include the Austin capital area, said only six intensive care units remained, 499 hospital beds and 33 respirators for about 2.4 million residents.

In China, Wuhan city authorities have completed mass inspections of all 11 million residents, following an increase in morbidity in the city where the corona virus was first detected in late 2019. As of Saturday, 37 local infections and 41 asymptomatic carriers have been identified.According to the Xinhua News Agency.

The country is in the midst of the biggest outbreak in several months, and in the previous day 125 new cases were diagnosed, of which 94 were local infections.
